I thought you might have some questions, so…
-
My primary offerings are manuscript coaching and manuscript evaluation. Depending on the needs of your manuscript and our fit, your custom package may include a level of developmental or substantive editing services as well.
-
Manuscript coaching generally involves a manuscript that is not yet written or is incomplete. Our process will not only involve drilling down into your project goals, dreams, audience, and purpose, but also a plan for writing a solid, complete draft. We will meet regularly and assess frequently.
Editing, on the other hand, while it can be quite involved, is a bit more rote, with less face time and more focus on the details. Generally, the editing process begins with a completed manuscript, and depending upon the needs, you might begin with developmental, line, or copy editing.
-
Manuscript coaching is a longer term collaborative process, usually taking several months at minimum. We work closely and consistently together throughout this time—a true partnership.
Manuscript evaluation, on the other hand, is high level service that includes 1-2 meetings and a full manuscript review, resulting in an Evaluation and Recommendation Report. Typically the turnaround time for this is a few weeks.

There are many paths authors can take post-manuscript development.
Post-manuscript coaching, you will have a complete manuscript draft. You may choose to seek an agent for traditional publishing, work with a hybrid publisher, or even self-publish. Regardless of what you choose, I will support however I can with referrals, connections, or moral support!
After a manuscript evaluation, you may decide to work through some revisions yourself, or hire an editor to work with you.
-
Manuscript coaching begins with a total minimum hours assessment, which I bill on a monthly basis. If the bank of hours needs to change, this will be a discussion and requires your approval.
For manuscript evaluation, I typically price per 1000 words, taking into consideration the phase and state of the manuscript, as well as length, genre, and any specific requests for feedback from the author.
